When you look at these photos years from now, we want you to remember the laugh, the nerves, the wind, and the way you looked at each other.
Hawaii elopement photographer on Oahu
Beautiful photographs matter.
But so does the way you felt while they were being taken.
If you felt awkward, rushed, or like you were performing for the camera, you remember that too.
So our first job is not to make you pose perfectly.
It is to help you forget about the camera long enough to enjoy what is actually happening.
We use prompts, movement, and direction so you always have something natural to do, then leave enough room for the two of you to make the moment your own.
Elopefully photographs elopements and vow renewals on Oahu in a documentary style, with photography and a Super 8-style film created together by the same camera team.

More than 200 Oahu elopements photographed by our team · Photographing weddings since 2018
The most meaningful photos happen when the moment matters more than the camera.
Almost every couple tells us some version of the same thing before the wedding.
They are nervous about the photos.
They think they are awkward.
They do not know what to do with their hands.
They are worried the pictures will feel like someone else.
You should not have to become a different version of yourselves just because someone picked up a camera.
We give you enough direction to feel comfortable, then let the two of you take it from there.
Sometimes that means movement.
Sometimes it means giving you something to do.
Sometimes it simply means getting close enough to each other that you stop thinking about your hands and start paying attention to the person you just married.
That is when the things we could never stage start to happen.
The laugh you did not plan.
The way you naturally look at each other.
The wind catching your hair.
The second right after the kiss.
Years from now, we do not want you to look at your wedding photos and remember how you were posed.
We want you to remember how it felt to be there together.
One camera team means fewer repeats and a more natural flow.
Your photos and your Super 8-style film are created together by the same camera team.
Because the same team is creating both, the photography and film are being considered together from the start, and you only have one set of directions to follow.
Video needs several continuous seconds of movement, so sometimes we will ask you to repeat something.
A walk might happen twice instead of five or six times.
But you are not doing one entire set of movements for the photographs and then starting over for a completely separate video team.
There is one rhythm to the experience.
One team.
Far less repetition.
The goal is to capture enough for both your photographs and your film without making your wedding day feel like a production.
Why Super 8-style instead of actual Super 8 film?
The finished film looks exactly like Super 8.
It has the grain, warmth, movement, and nostalgic feeling of real Super 8 film.
What is different is how we capture it.
Real Super 8 cannot be backed up until a lab develops it, and there is no Super 8 lab in Hawaii. The reels would have to leave the island before we could even see what was captured.
We capture digitally so your wedding footage can be backed up in three places the same night, then create the finished film to look exactly like Super 8.
Your film is about three minutes long, set to a song you choose, and delivered within four weeks.
It looks exactly like Super 8. It is protected like digital.
Your photos should feel like the way you remember the day.
Some couples love a moodier, more cinematic feeling.
Others want something lighter, warmer, and more colorful.
During planning, we show you examples of both so you can choose the direction that feels right for you.
Every photograph is color corrected so the gallery feels consistent from beginning to end.
We do not reshape bodies or faces.
We want you to look like yourselves, just beautifully documented.
And we keep the editing natural so the photos still feel like you years from now.
The day ends. These are the pieces you get to keep coming back to.
- 150 edited photographsThe ceremony, the people you love, the two of you, and the details you will forget you noticed.
- Full ceremony recordingStart to finish, including every word of your vows.
- Super 8-style filmAbout three minutes, set to a song you choose. The photos hold the still moments. The film gives you the movement back.
- Printed albumBecause your wedding should not live only on your phone. You choose your favorite 50 images, and we turn them into an album you can pull off the shelf years from now. It is the piece of your wedding you can still hold in your hands 20 years from now.
The day happens once. These are the ways you get to come back to it.
Every item is inside the one package, on the Oahu packages page.
A photograph preserves what the moment looked like. The film brings back how it moved, sounded, and felt.
M and B brought family to their wedding.
Partway through the day, a passing shower came over and everyone opened umbrellas.
In the photographs, it was beautiful.
In the film, you can see the umbrellas moving, the wind, the laughter, and the reactions happening around them.
Later there was dancing.
One of the moments we kept was the bride and her best friend looking at each other with an expression that said everything without needing words.
Can you believe this is happening?
Can you believe we are here?
That is why we believe you should have both.
The photograph becomes the memory you frame. The film becomes the memory you can step back into.
I still remember the first time I saw the whiteboards.
I had just started photographing weddings at a chapel here in Hawaii.
In the back office, there were huge whiteboards covering the wall.
One for one chapel.
Another for the next.
And written across them were the names of all the couples getting married that day.
Wedding after wedding after wedding.
The couple I was about to photograph was one name in a much bigger schedule.
And suddenly the way I had been trained made sense.
When the couple kisses, take about five steps back.
Two to the right.
Two to the left.
Change the lens.
Know the settings.
Know exactly where you are supposed to stand and exactly what happens next.
There was very little room to stop and think creatively.
Not because the people working there did not care about the couples.
Because the system could not afford for us to fall behind.
If one wedding ran late, the next wedding started late.
Then the wedding after that started late.
Eventually, the experience had to run like a machine.
And I started to understand what gets lost when a wedding day is built around efficiency first.
There is less room to notice what is actually happening.
Less room to stay in a beautiful moment while it is unfolding.
Less room for the unexpected.
Less room for the day to breathe.
Once I saw it, I could not stop seeing it.
That experience shaped Elopefully.
Fewer couples.
More room.
Photography and film created together.
A day that does not have to move faster because the next wedding is already waiting.
You may never see the schedule happening behind the scenes.
But you will remember if you felt rushed.
And you will remember when you had enough space to laugh, cry, stop, look at each other, and realize:
This is really happening.
Because the whole point was never just to get married somewhere beautiful. It was to have a day that feels like yours and a moment you will remember for the rest of your lives.

A few things you might still be wondering
What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?
Most couples tell us they do.
That is why we do not expect you to arrive knowing how to pose.
We give you direction, movement and prompts so you always have something natural to do, then leave enough room for the two of you to make the moment your own.
The goal is not to make you look like a different couple in front of the camera.
We want the photographs to feel like you.
Is the Super 8-style film actually shot on Super 8?
No, and that is intentional.
The finished film is created to look exactly like Super 8, with the grain, warmth, movement and nostalgic feeling of real Super 8 film.
The difference is how it is captured.
Real Super 8 cannot be backed up until it has been developed, and there is no Super 8 lab in Hawaii.
We capture digitally so the footage can be backed up immediately, then create the final film in the Super 8 style.
You get the look without putting your wedding memories on a reel we cannot protect right away.
Do we need a separate Oahu elopement videographer?
No.
Your photography and Super 8-style film are created together by the same camera team.
That means one set of directions, one rhythm to the experience, and far less repetition than working with separate photo and video teams.
Sometimes a movement may happen twice because video needs several continuous seconds.
But you are not repeating the same thing again and again for two different people trying to capture it in two different ways.
Can we book photography without the rest of the package?
No.
The photography, Super 8-style film, ceremony recording, officiant, hair and makeup, flowers and permit are designed as one experience.
That is intentional.
We do not want you building the day one vendor at a time and then trying to make all of those pieces work together.
The package exists so the experience feels connected from the beginning.
Can we choose how the photographs are edited?
Yes.
Some couples prefer a moodier, more cinematic feeling.
Others want something lighter, warmer and more colorful.
We show you examples during the planning process so you can choose the direction that feels right for you.
Whichever you choose, the editing stays natural.
We want you to look like yourselves, just beautifully documented, and we keep the editing natural so the photos still feel like you.
Do you photograph elopements outside Oahu?
No.
Elopefully is focused on Oahu.
That means the beaches, parks, permits, weather patterns and backup options we recommend are places we actually know and work in.
We would rather know one island deeply than pretend every island works the same way.
